COVID-19: PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY CODE

At Mount Evergreen (MTE), our priority is to get you safely on the slopes!

Guest & Employee safety has always been critical to MTE. This 2021-22 winter season we ask that all guests acknowledge some important personal responsibilities before using our outdoor recreational facility:

  1. FACE COVERINGS WILL BE REQUIRED INDOORS AT ALL TIMES AND FOR SPECTATORS WHO CAN’T MAINTAIN PHYSICAL DISTANCING. Bring face coverings that align with health unit recommendations. We recommend bringing a few extras for when your face covering gets damp. Mask do not replace physical distancing so please practice PHYSICAL DISTANCING at all times.
  2. DO NOT ENTER IF UNWELL – be self-aware about changes to your health. Complete an Ontario “COVID-19 Screening Tool” before arriving at MTE. Stay home if you have unexplainable COVID-19 symptoms or have reason to suspect recent COVID-19 exposure.
  3. Be prepared to spend your visit OUTDOORS – dress appropriately for the weather.
  4. Plan to USE YOUR VEHICLE as your Base Lodge i.e. bag storage, booting up, bagged lunches.
  5. Be prepared to EAT OUTSIDE – indoor seating will be limited. Pocket-sized snacks can be a great back-up if our restaurant & Take-Out lines are longer than usual.
  6. As always, know the “Alpine Responsibility Code” – ski/board in control and within your abilities.
  7. Try to make all purchases on-line including lift passes, tubing passes and rentals before you arrive. Help us minimize time spent at our ticket counters and rental shop. Parent/guardian must sign waiver for anyone age 17 and under.
  8. All private lessons must be arranged before arriving. Call 807-548-5100 or email [email protected] for ski and snowboard lessons.
  9. Please be kind and respectful to your fellow skiers/boarders and MTE employees and volunteers.

Skiing & Snowboarding has an inherent assumption of risk; all public spaces have an inherent risk of COVID-19 exposure. By following the Personal Responsibility Code above we can work together to minimize these risks for everyone while getting fresh air and doing outdoor activities that we love!

Please note that the above is subject to change based on changes made by the Province of Ontario.

LESSONS & PROGRAMMING

Due to COVID-19, there have been some changes for programming this upcoming season. Please see details on changes to programming below. For further information and to confirm time slots or group cohort text Tamara at 1-807-407-3491 or Tara at 1-807-407-8380.

This program is designed for little tots who are ready for their first experience on skis or snowboards. Our amazing instructors provide one-on-one teaching in a small group environment that focuses on the very beginner basics through snow play. Ski/Snowboard development will be individually geared to your child’s needs. Fun games and lots of smiles are our instructors’ focus.

Due to COVID-19 & no contact restrictions this year we have had to change the way we look at teaching our little ones. Because we can not offer hands-on instructions we are excited to work with parents or sibling assistance. It will be a great way to teach the ABC’s of skiing to your tiny tots.

Free one-hour tubing pass and hot chocolate after each lesson. Full rentals will be an extra $5 per lesson.

At Mount Evergreen we want your child’s first experience of skiing and snowboarding to be remembered as fun and safe! Kids in our Learn to ski/snowboard Beginner Bunny programs will be taught about safety on the slopes and the lifts, as well as learning the rules of the ski area. They will progress quickly as they learn new skills as skiers/boarders in a fun and supported environment, and of course, they will meet new friends on our “Magic Carpet”!

With their instructors’ children will learn through “Copy Cat” games, drills and fun adventures that are adapted to their age and ability.

Due to COVID-19 this year, we can not offer a hands-on assistance to students. All students will have to have completed one year of beginners ski school or have the ability to ride the lift with a ski partner and be able to independently get up when fallen. To ensure safety we will be offering cohort groups of up to six students per lesson. There will be limited space in each time slot.

Are your kids looking for some high-flying fun? Our new Fundamentalz Learn to Ski program introduces your child to jumps and bumps and terrain park tricks in a safe and fun environment with our awesome certified coaches Jarod and Nathan!

This program uses fun games and drills to teach your little freestyler some new moves. It is aimed at children 6 and over who can comfortably ski intermediate runs and are able to do controlled turns or for those who have completed our beginner ski school program.

Jumps and Bumps explores the basics of good carving turns, stance and balance, flatland 180 and 360’s, backward skiing, and teaches students to safely land jumps, rails, and provides them with important terrain park etiquette and safety! Each and every child will be at their own level of skiing and coaches will work with them to progress at that level.

Students will be supervised at all times and will only be allowed to do the jumps and tricks their coaches have assessed they are ready to do. SAFETY and FUN are our main goals at all times.

Due to COVID-19 this year, we can not offer a hands on assistance to students. All students will have to have completed one year of beginners ski school or have the ability to ride the lift with a ski partner and be able to independently get up when fallen.
