HOURS OF OPERATIONS

KNBC trails are typically open December – March. The shoulder seasons: November and April/May typically require ‘rock’ skis: ski at your own risk. During open season, KNBC trails are open 24-7. New in 2022-23 season: Trail lighting! We now have 6 km of lit trails: Frank Symonds, Two Towers, Jackrabbit, Matoo’s and Matoo’s Return are lit daily during the ski season from 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Wax Hut and Paranordic Loop lit daily 4:00 PM – 10:00 PM. Head lamp recommended for the remaining 15+ km of our trail system that does not have lighting. Please note: The Mt Evergreen Chalet is only open to the public and members during scheduled times. Those who access KNBC trails outside of Chalet hours, access the trails directly from the parking lot. An outhouse is available at the Frank Symonds trail head (painted and spruced up in 2025). No other facilities are available when the Chalet is not open with the exception of the wax hut. The wax hut is accessible by key code for members only.

Challenging, well thought out and immaculately groomed trails. Long hard climbs, long sweeping down hills but all very skiable. A kind of mini-Canmore except prettier and more fun to ski. A true diamond in the rough which I plan to get to more often.

Andy Dwilow, Winnipeg, MB

KNBC would like to acknowledge the Kenora and Lake of the Woods Regional Community Foundation, and the Moffatt Family Fund for $3,500 funding in support of the purchase of 2 Sit Skis and KNBC’s first ever Para Nordic program!

KNBC coaches are certified Nordiq Canada coaches. Our programming follows each stage of Nordiq Canada’s Long Term Athlete Development (LTAD) model which each reflects a different point in athlete development. Junior Development (Ages 12-18)

This 3 session program provides skiers with an opportunity to develop technique, increase physical fitness and explore the many facets of cross-country skiing cross-training activities such as running/biking/ski orienteering and competition. Mandatory registration in all 3 sessions is a requirement of this program, although some exceptions may be considered. The Junior Development Team includes the following race categories: U14, U16, & U18.

Skiers begin with fitness activities in the fall and get on snow as early as possible.  There is an increased emphasis on competitive experiences at this level, such as CCSAM Cup Races, MB Provincials, Easterns/Westerns and Canada Winter Games. Racing is optional in the Junior Development program however skiers are offered a comprehensive training program to develop the skills and fitness to prepare for the racing challenge.  Coaches strive to create a positive environment for competition among all athletes, skill levels and interests.  Our club strives to ensure the development of skiing as a life long sport, and a community that nurtures the development and personal growth in all participants.

Baseline ability in both ski techniques (classic/skate) is a requirement for this program as it relates to ensuring safety for all participants.  Interested participants who do not have previous ski experience are encouraged to speak to the coaches about possible ‘bridging’ sessions to allow entry into Junior Development.

KNBC is a multisport club (Nordic / Biathlon) with close connections to our High School ski teams.  We strive to work closely as community coaches to provide participants with a cohesive and coordinated experience across all programs (i.e. Junior Development, Biathlon, High School).

KNBC is a member of Cross Country Ski Association of Manitoba (CCSAM). As such, we host and participate in CCSAM events and activities. Participants will have the opportunity to participate in dry-land and on-snow camps offered in association with CCSAM.  Although optional, Junior Development participants are encouraged to register in the Provincial Development Program. Please see program eligibility for details.

In the 2026-27 season, the sessions below are only being offered to skiers eligible for the Junior Development program.  Please see additional offerings for Adult Learn to Ski, Adult Ski Group and Individual Lessons on our website.

Philanthropist supports Biathlon Equipment Purchase: New 2026-27 Season

The Kenora Nordic and Biathlon Club has applied to the National Sport Trust Fund-Manitoba Chapter to receive donations towards the purchase of Biathlon specific sport equipment , also referred to as Biathlon rifles. Our project has been accepted, allowing donors to receive an official tax receipt for any donation of $20 or greater.

The impetus for this project was the generosity of a philanthropist who offered to purchase four rifles for the club if a tax receipt would be available.

This fundraising program will be open for the next five years (2026-2031). The goal is fundraising for six new rifles to support club activities, programs and races that are held at the Lake of the Woods Gun Club Biathlon range and trails.

To donate you are required to submit your donation with the solicitation letter and form provided here.

KNBC is grateful for the 2021 support provided by Nordiq Canada and AltaGas to bring KNBC Zone4 Race Timing Equipment up to state of the art standards! Our Club is proud to host multiple CCSAM Cup and recreation race opportunities for local skiers and is committed to ensuring high quality race experiences continue to be offered.

Thank you Nordiq Canada and AltaGas!

KNBC would like to than the Community Foundation for their generous 2024 donation to the Ski Playground equipment!

Thank you to Sport Manitoba’s Canada Games Legacy fund for the 2024 purchase of new rental skis!
